COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES

A main component of the IALR mission is to help translate IALR assets into programs and activities that support the creation of an innovation economy through commercialization and technology transfer, enterprise management, and business development.

The IALR is actively pursuing the commercialization of technologies developed through IALR research centers. Currently, IALR research centers are available to partnership opportunities within their fields of expertise.

In 2005, an additional research building is slated to be constructed near the current IALR facility within the Cyber Park. This project is in collaboration with the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County. Research space will be available to private research firms.

The IALR also supports the expansion of high wage employment through the attraction of knowledge economy companies, growing new start-ups, and expanding current companies.

The Institute Conference Center is the most visible IALR commercial activity to date. In addition to providing Southside with world-class conference and meeting facilities, the ICC is helping to make Southside Virginia a desitination location as it hosts conferences and symposia.
