The highly trained Institute Conference Center staff provides friendly and personalized attention to each and every client. Staff members are, l. to r. Diana Carter, ICC Program Event Planner; Christopher West, ICC Service Specialist; Theresa Lewis, Information Desk Specialist; Nelson Rich, ICC Operations Manager; Ellen Bass, ICC Sales Manager; Travis Bowman, ICC Service Specialist; and Leslie Dobbins, Director of the ICC.

Director of the Institute Conference Center

Leslie manages and directs the Conference Center, including all support activities. This includes marketing the Conference Center facility as a revenue generator and its role to enhance regional economic development. Leslie and her staff, as part of their responsibilities, oversee all catering, hospitality and related activities in support of the overall mission of the IALR.

Sales Manager

Since the fall of 2004 Ellen has been responsible for attracting businesses and organizations to host events at the Institute. Her efforts help generate a meaningful revenue stream for the Institute. Ms. Bass is a native of Danville, VA and serves on the Dan River Hospitality and Travel Committee.

Diana Carter
Event Planner

Diana serves as the Conference Center’s Event Planner. She is responsible for all event details and planning for requested services. Diana’s responsibilities also include booking rooms and coordination of event details for all Institute internal clients and partners.

Service Operations Manager

Nelson is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the ICC food & beverage department, ICC event operations, and ICC administrative support. Nelson is a Danville native and has successfully managed a family owned restaurant.

Front Desk Specialist

Theresa is the face of the Institute. She greets and directs all guests and clients. Additionally, she provides switchboard and administrative support for the Conference Center Team. In 2007, she received the “Excellent Customer Service” award from the Danville Chamber of Commerce.

Travis Bowman
Service Specialist

Travis is responsible for supporting contracted events on a part-time basis including the set-up and break-down of events. Travis is from the Danville area and attends Averett University.

Jeff Bailey
Service Specialist

Jeff works part-time as an ICC Service Specialist and is responsible for supporting contracted events on a part-time basis including the set-up and break-down of events. Jeff brings a wealth of experience with customer service, as he was previously employed in Sales and Customer Service at McGee Furniture, Inc. He hopes to use his experience to help provide the best customer service to IALR's clients. Jeff is a graduate of George Washington High School and Danville Community College. He enjoys reading and history.

All on the ICC team have embraced the mission and its goal of providing
superior customer service to all clients and visitors.
