STEM Summer Adventure (SSA)
Get ready for a summer of fun that includes many exciting, hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) topics! Throughout the summer weeks, youth from throughout Southern Virginia can register for the summer camps! The Institute is your child's pathway to STEM summer fun! STEM Summer Adventure (SSA) is sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research (IALR) and the JT - Minnie Maude Charitable Trust (JTMM). SSA is a series of summer educational programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education for students entering grades kindergarten through twelve. Each session is led by a unique combination of experienced teachers and local college students serving as interns or instructional assistants. Camp sites will vary, so pay careful attention to the site location for any camp of interest. Parent/Guardian is responsible for providing daily transportation to/from camp locations. The camp offerings are below. Registrations will begin May 2nd and payment is due at time of online registration. A camp packet will be emailed as part of the registration confirmation for the eight camps to be held at IALR and the two camps to be held at the Pittsylvania County Schools Vocational Tech Center. All documents MUST be completed and placed in the mail within three business days of the registration date. Address envelope to: Nancy Combs at IALR, 150 Slayton Avenue, Danville, VA 24540.
2012 Camps: Camps will occur at multiple locations this year, so pay careful attention to the camp site location for any camp of interest. Parent/Guardian is responsible for providing daily transportation to/from camp locations. Onsite Offsite
Participant slots are filled on a first-come-first serve basis pending receipt of registration, fee, and letter of recommendation (only when required as noted). Online registration payment options include any of the following: Credit Card, Debit Card, Pre-paid Credit/Debit Card. You DO NOT need a Pay Pal account in order to use the payment option when registering online. Registrants for the eight onsite camps at IALR and the two offsite camps at PCS Vocational Tech. Career will receive an electronic camp packet upon completion of online registration.
