NanoScIEnce: It's No Small Thing

Instruction for Educators

Nanotube
The focus of this program is on nanoscience and nanotechnology, two of the hottest fields in research.  This program is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and is directed toward all K-12 Math, Science, IT Educators and Guidance Counselors.

  So what is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is a term that refers to the creation, measurement, manipulation and use of objects at the nanoscale, which is measured in nanometers. (The word comes from the Greek word for dwarf.) A nanometer is very tiny, a millionth of a millimeter. To put this in perspective, the period at the end of this sentence is about a million nanometers.

Nano WorkshopThis multifaceted, educational program exposes educators directly to the world of nanoscience and technology through lectures and activities led by world-renowned experts in the field. Teachers that attend all three Spring Series Programs will have the knowledge and know how to enhance their lesson plans with basic nanotechnology concepts and become “best practice” experts, ensuring K-12 students are exposed to this emerging science field.
