"We are going to have a hard time matching Chase's enthusiasm, passion, and professionalism with what he has been able to do for us this summer.  We are very grateful for Chase and very grateful for all that have played a part in making Chase available to be a part of our organization.  We look forward to working with Chase and the Institute in the future."

Did you miss a SEDI summer workshop this summer?
Do you need a few extra tools in your teacher's toolbox now?

It’s not too late!

This fall, with support of the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification & Community Revitalization Commission, the Southside Educators’ Development Institute (SEDI) will offer a unique set of professional development opportunities including short courses for regional educators in every discipline at all grade levels. SEDI provides teachers with practical information using technology as a teaching tool, and guides educators in the process of deciding how to incorporate technology into their teaching practice.

Differentiation of Instruction for Diverse Learners: Helping All Students Achieve Success
Instructor: Eric Carbaugh, PhD, James Madison University
November 7, 2009 (Saturday)           10:00 am - 4:00 pm                   6 points
Fee: $15 for refreshments and lunch
A differentiated approach to teaching can offer ways of meeting learners where they are and helping prepare them for an optimal learning environment. Through modeling and discussion, participants will develop a thorough understanding of differentiation and how to recognize and implement it in the classroom. See this website for more information on the topic http://state.virginia.edu/about-siad-institutes-165.
Registration Deadline is October 15, 2009
