Community Development

In addition to the envisioned economic transformation, the IALR must also help facilitate a cultural transformation. IALR Outreach programs provide the citizens of Southside Virginia the opportunity to participate in this economic transition. Emphasizing the importance of science, math, and computer literacy, IALR Outreach programs include both youth and adults.

Program Diversity

Southside Virginia’s people are diverse in background, skills, and interests requiring IALR Outreach efforts to take on many forms. Our outreach strategies will change as Southside responds to the challenges already apparent and as new opportunities emerge. Though the details and specific programs may change, the audience of IALR Outreach is clear: the children of Southside Virginia, local educators, and adults seeking new opportunities in a new economy.
