Teacher educationK-12 Faculty Development This program's purpose is to establish partnerships with K-12 leaders in the region and engage Virginia Tech to assist in developing technology, science, and math capacity in teachers, administrators, and schools. The program's goals include enhancement of math, science, and technology in the curriculum, and the creation of seamless pathways to IALR strategic academic programs.
The Cutting Edge is a series of four symposia for teachers, combining an opportunity to hear about the newest topics in science and mathematics with practical help on integrating the subject into the classroom to meet Virginia’s Standards of Learning. The first symposium was held in November and focused on bioinformatics. The Southside Educators’ Development Institute gives teachers new skills in using technology as a teaching tool and guides educators in the process of deciding how to incorporate technology into their teaching practice.
