DESCRIPTION:Dan River Year AmeriCorps\, Danville Project Literacy\, AmeriCorps\, and REACH AmeriCorps present Family Literacy Night on Thursday\, March 2\, to coincide with Dr. Seuss’s birthday and National Read Across America Day! This event will feature 29 stations where students can complete a hands-on activity based on a book.\n \n\n\nIn addition to activities\, 300 books will be given to the children who attend. Dollar and Scotter\, mascots from URW Community FCU and Danville Otterbots\, will be present to meet and pose for photos. URW Credit Union will also give away the book Just Saving My Money. And finally\, Storytime from Rachel Timm of the Pittsylvania County Public Library will take place at 6:00 p.m.!\n \n\n\nPlease come out for fun activities\, chances to win prizes and great snacks!

SUMMARY:Danville Art League "Seeing Things in a New Light" Reception/Awards
DESCRIPTION:The theme\, “Seeing Things in a New Light” is a play on words alluding to the three-year COVID-19 hiatus and the new venue for this year’s spring show. \nJUDGE: Michael D. Fels  \nMichael D. Fels is a practicing mixed-media artist and acting chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Elon University. Fels taught for ten years at The Pennsylvania State University before joining the faculty at Elon University 20 years ago. \nFels continues his exploration of art and its physical boundaries through both his teaching and his art making. He regularly exhibits both 2 and 3-dimensional works in materials ranging from steel\, wood\, glass\, concrete and more. His art has been shown in places ranging from Taiwan\, New Zealand\, Chicago\, DC and New York City. \nExhibit of Works: March 31 – April 14
