Academy for Engineering and Technology & Piedmont Governor’s School
The Institute serves as the host site for two dual enrollment programs serving students in grades eleven and twelve in Danville and Pittsylvania County Public Schools. The Academy for Engineering and Technology (AET) is a partnership with New College Institute and Virginia State University serving 43 students with an emphasis on engineering. Piedmont Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology provides 79 students with opportunities to earn dual enrollment credits from Danville Community College.
STEM Mobile Learning Lab
The STEM Mobile Learning Lab advances K-12 science, technology, engineering and math education by providing quality, hands-on activities for students. Students and educators within IALR’s service region enjoy a high level of exposure to STEM education when they board the STEM Mobile Learning Lab. The lab hosts students at the Institute and also travels the region supporting schools, neighborhoods, organizations, and community events. During 2016, IALR’s STEM Mobile Learning Lab visited 90 sites with 7,606 participants.
