The Career ChoICE Youth Expo is Southern Virginia’s premier hands-on career exploration event, engaging over 4,500 middle and high school students annually.

Coordinated by the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), the Expo connects students with local industries and future career opportunities.

Held across two major locations each fall—in Farmville (Career ChoICE East) and in Chatham (Career ChoICE West)—this event brings together education and industry to inspire purpose-driven career planning.

 

2025 Career ChoICE Dates and Deadlines

The two 2025 Career ChoICE Expo events will be held at the following dates and times. 

  • On Pause for Fall 2025, More Information Coming Soon – East at the Joan Perry Brock Center, Longwood University (Farmville)
  • Oct. 1 & 2 – West at the Old Dominion Agricultural Complex (Chatham)

These are the deadlines to get involved in the 2025 events: 

  • Activity submissions are due Sept. 3 for Career ChoICE East (Farmville) and Sept. 17 for Career ChoICE West (Chatham).
  • The volunteer registration deadline is Sept. 3 for Career ChoICE East (Farmville) and Sept. 17 for Career ChoICE West (Chatham).
  • The sponsorship commitment deadline is Aug. 25
  • The young professional profile submission date is Aug. 25
