Building Stronger Workforce Pipelines Takes Collaboration

The Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC®) program builds stronger talent pipelines by exposing middle school students to future career opportunities. Building those talent pipelines requires strategic collaboration among schools, employers, workforce organizations and economic developers.

Whether you are looking to expand career-connected learning, strengthen workforce readiness, support economic growth or bring GO TEC to a new region, there are multiple ways to get involved.

Find the Right GO TEC Partnership for Your Organization

GO TEC is administered by the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), which serves as the program lead and fiscal agent.

For Virginia School Divisions

Students cannot pursue career opportunities they do not know exist.

Virginia school divisions partner with GO TEC to connect students with high-demand industries, emerging technologies and future career pathways through hands-on, career-connected learning experiences.

Virginia schools receive:

  • Curriculum aligned with industry and VDOE course codes
  • Hands-on technologies
  • Professional development and educator training
  • Implementation support
  • Industry engagement opportunities
  • Ongoing curriculum updates

GO TEC is flexible by design and can be implemented in sixth, seventh and/or eighth grade, in formats ranging from 45 days at 45 minutes per day to semester-long experiences.

Bring GO TEC to Your Virginia Students

At this time, GO TEC is available to individual schools and school divisions anywhere in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are actively looking for licensing and implementation partners to support the program’s expansion into other states.

Sponsorships and Industry Partnerships

Employers need confidence that strong talent pipelines will exist not only today, but years into the future. By helping students explore industries, technologies and career pathways during middle school, GO TEC helps companies build awareness of opportunities long before traditional recruitment begins.

In GO TEC, industry partners help students understand modern careers, technologies and educational pathways while increasing awareness of opportunities available within their own communities.

Partnership opportunities include:

  • Equipment and technology support
  • Module sponsorships
  • Career awareness activities
  • Classroom engagement

For employers, GO TEC creates opportunities to engage with future talent years before traditional recruitment begins.

Invest in Your Company’s Future Workforce Pipeline

For Workforce or Economic Development Organizations

Where will future workers come from?

That’s a question that consistently emerges when employers evaluate communities for investment or expansion.

GO TEC helps communities answer that question by connecting students to career opportunities and workforce needs earlier in their educational journey.

Organizations partner with GO TEC to:

  • Support workforce development goals
  • Increase career awareness
  • Strengthen talent pipelines
  • Support employer recruitment and expansion efforts
  • Connect education and industry

Strengthen Workforce Development in Your Region

Licensing and Implementation Partnership Opportunities

What began in three middle schools in Danville and Pittsylvania County has grown into a statewide initiative serving 84 schools across 52 Virginia school divisions.

GO TEC is actively seeking licensing and implementation partners interested in bringing the model to additional states and regions.

Ideal partners include:

  • Workforce development organizations
  • Education organizations
  • Economic development organizations
  • Community college systems
  • Industry associations
  • Regional conveners
  • Foundations and philanthropic organizations

Partners gain access to a proven framework that combines curriculum, technology, educator training, implementation support and industry engagement.

Bring GO TEC to Your Community

One Mission. Many Ways to Make an Impact.

GO TEC succeeds and generates far-reaching positive impacts because schools, employers, workforce organizations, economic developers and community partners work together.

For students, that collaboration creates awareness, confidence and opportunity.

For employers, it helps strengthen future talent pipelines.

For communities, it supports workforce readiness and economic competitiveness.

For educators, it creates meaningful connections between classroom learning and future careers.

For implementation partners, it provides a scalable workforce development model that can be adapted to local needs while maintaining proven outcomes.

Whether your organization is interested in implementing GO TEC, supporting students, strengthening workforce development efforts or bringing the model to a new region, we would welcome the opportunity to explore how we can work together.
