About Our Work-Based Learning Efforts
IALR works with partners to strengthen workforce development initiatives in the Dan River Region of Virginia. One tool for helping address the skills needs of employers is work-based learning.
Dan River Region employers have recognized the importance of building a pipeline of talent by offering temporary, new and existing employees opportunities to learn and add skills by actually doing the work, shadowing qualified talent and receiving mentorship along the way. Some of these opportunities may also involve classroom or online training to strengthen or elevate lessons learned in the work environment.
Whether an internship, on-the-job training experience or apprenticeship is best suited for an individual, these opportunities and potentially others exist. IALR also launched a sector-based apprenticeship model to unite employers and achieve optimal results on a broader front.
