Emma Sellers joined the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in 2025 as the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement. In this capacity, she plays a critical role in advancing IALR’s mission to serve as a regional catalyst for economic transformation by securing and stewarding philanthropic resources. Through strategic partnerships and donor engagement, Sellers supports the growth of key divisions that propel regional innovation and opportunity.
With over 15 years of experience in higher education and institutional advancement, Sellers has consistently built strong relationships and led transformational initiatives. She is recognized for her thoughtful, collaborative approach and her ability to help secure resources, strengthen community connections and support long-term, meaningful outcomes.
Sellers holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with a focus on Public Relations, from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Arts in English, specializing in Technical and Professional Communication, from East Carolina University. A 2024 Lead Virginia alumna, Sellers was also named a Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce 2024 Young Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) Award recipient. She remains actively involved in regional and local organizations and currently serves as President of the River District Association Board.
