Fast Track to Successful Manufacturing Careers

The Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program is a four‑month, intensive training program that prepares participants for in‑demand manufacturing careers supporting the submarine industrial base and defense suppliers across the country. The program is fast-paced, hands-on, and designed to move people quickly into the workforce. Tuition is covered through scholarships, and placement rates are exceptionally strong.

This program is open to adult learners from anywhere in the United States who are willing to relocate for positions upon graduation.

Community Health Workers & Community Paramedics

The Regional Engagement to Enhance Community Health (REACH) Partnership connects individuals to full-time Community Health Worker and Community Paramedic roles with healthcare and public‑safety partners across Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, North Carolina. These positions provide a direct entry point into healthcare and community‑based careers while making a tangible impact on people’s lives.

Earn While You Learn with Registered Apprenticeship

Registered Apprenticeship combines paid, on‑the‑job training with classroom instruction, allowing you to earn a living while building skills and avoiding student loan debt. Apprentices earn nationally recognized credentials and gain experience that positions them for long‑term success.

Through the Expanding Talent through Registered Apprenticeship (ExTRA) program, IALR supports apprenticeship opportunities across industries such as healthcare, construction, manufacturing, early childhood education, marketing and information technology.

Build Skills

Short‑Term, Resume‑Building Fermentation Training Workshop

IALR partners with Virginia Tech and industry to host hands-on fermentation training and workshops designed for students, professionals and career changers interested in biotechnology and related industries. These week-long programs focus on real equipment, real processes and industry‑relevant skills.

Summer Internships at IALR

IALR offers paid summer internships for college students and recent graduates. Interns gain professional experience across areas such as coding and robotics, manufacturing engineering, communications and marketing, and research and data analysis while working alongside experienced staff.

Earn Experience While You Serve

Dan River Year AmeriCorps offers paid service opportunities that combine meaningful work with professional development. Most positions last 9–12 months with flexible schedules ranging from part‑time to full‑time. Members receive a living allowance, training and mentorship and a Segal Education Award that can be used for tuition or student loan repayment.

AmeriCorps is a strong option for career exploration, re‑entering the workforce, or building experience in education, health, and community services.
