Telly Tucker, President of the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), has been named to the 2026-2027 Virginia 500 Power List by Virginia Business. Compiled annually, the Virginia 500 recognizes many of the Commonwealth’s most influential leaders across 21 sectors, including business, education, government, nonprofits and economic development.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Tucker has been recognized in the Virginia 500 Power List. Two of those recognitions came during his tenure as director of economic development for Arlington County, and the past five have recognized his leadership of IALR.
Since taking the helm of IALR, Telly Tucker has overseen a period of rapid organizational growth, guiding IALR from roughly 50 employees to nearly 200 while expanding its portfolio of programs, partnerships and facilities. During that time, IALR has significantly scaled the nationally recognized Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program, expanded Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC®) across the Commonwealth, launched new advanced manufacturing capabilities through the Center for Manufacturing Advancement and supported the establishment of the U.S. Navy Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. The growth has positioned IALR as an increasingly influential workforce and economic development organization serving both Virginia and the nation.
