Butch Kendrick joined the IALR Manufacturing Advancement team in June 2021. Previously, he served as the Director of Automation and Robotics at Danville Community College’s (DCC) Regional Center for Advanced Training and Technology (RCATT). During his tenure at DCC he also worked with the region’s K12 educational pipelines in the areas of automation and robotics and the GO Virginia-funded GO TEC program, assisting with training lab designs and curriculum development. Prior to his work in education, he spent over 37 years in manufacturing, including process control engineering and information technology. Kendrick also worked to develop partnership training between manufacturing and DCC.
Currently operating as IALR’s Director of Digital Manufacturing, Kendrick’s duties encompass the design and implementation of the Industry 4.0 demonstration and learning lab at the Center for Manufacturing Advancement. Additionally, he is IALR’s ITAR Export Compliance Officer. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance of the exchange of intellectual and/or tangible controlled property as specified by the U.S government. Kendrick has achieved certifications with Microsoft, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Aviation Administration, FANUC America, and the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute.
