Dr. Nancy Riddell joined the Institute of Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in 2025 as the Curriculum Development Specialist. She received her doctorate from The College of William and Mary in Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership. Dr. Riddell has a distinguished career characterized by a commitment to excellence in leadership, as well as teaching and service. Her innovative approach to curriculum and assessment is based on fostering a rich learning environment. Dr. Riddell has made significant contributions to the academic community and currently serves on the board of the Center for Early Success here in Danville.
Dr. Riddell’s leadership roles in various committees and organizations further reflect her ability to collaborate and advance the goals of IALR. She previously served as the Chair of the Education Department, and Director of Teacher Education at Averett University, where she initiated Danville Community College (DCC) and Averett University (AU) collaboration to provide an inspiring path for instructional paraprofessionals to fulfill their aspirations in the field of education. Dr Riddell also lead Averett’s first national accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and in 2022, was awarded the Frank Murray Leadership Award for continuous improvement.
