Robin Barker serves as Director, Grants and Contracts for the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR). For over 17 years, Barker has managed approximately $80M in grant and contract funding from a wide variety of federal, state and local/private grantors including the DoD, DOE, USDA, DOL, USDOE, NSF, EDA, the Commonwealth of Virginia and various private foundations.
During her career, Barker served as Controller for SERVE, Inc. – SERVE Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and managed accounting functions at Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services. She oversaw staff payroll, employee benefits and federal student loan accounting at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and served as systems manager for a commercial construction company. She holds a B.S. in Business Management from Averett University and completed additional graduate work in accounting at the University of South Alabama.
A graduate of Leadership Danville, Barker has served on various Chamber committees, was a long-time board member and board president of the Free Clinic of Danville, Inc. and chaired numerous fund-raising events for the clinic.
