Stewart East

Stewart East is the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research’s (IALR) Manager of Facilities Maintenance. East oversees electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lawn care, janitorial and security on IALR’s campus of five buildings that total over 220,000 square feet. This space includes a variety of uses such as conference services, research, education, and leased space. East’s experience includes mining, chemical, and machining industries as well as operating a beef cattle farm in Pittsylvania County. He graduated from Chatham High School, Danville Community College with an associate degree in electricity, and Averett University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. East is also a licensed electrician in the Commonwealth of Virginia and an active member and deacon at Sheva Church of Christ in Pittsylvania County.
