IALR awarded 11 high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships to support their continued education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The scholarship program, made possible by the IALR Foundation, supports talent development in STEM career fields, which is significantly important to Southern Virginia’s economic transformation. As part of the application process, students are required to answer a series of essay questions, demonstrating their STEM skills and the planned use thereof in their future endeavors.
Our Scholarship Program
The annual scholarship program is available to qualified graduating seniors who are interested in pursuing a career and collegiate studies in a STEM-related field. IALR invites student applicants from across its service region, including the counties of Patrick, Franklin, Henry, Pittsylvania, Halifax and Mecklenburg, along with the cities of Danville and Martinsville. In addition to the competitive scholarship program, IALR’s STEM commitment is also evident through its research centers, precision machining program and advanced learning programs.
